Lesson Develoment, Design, Delivery
Grouping:
Students will work in pairs or individually.
Materials:
Computer with internet connection.
Strategies / Differentiation:
The activity is helpful for visual and auditory learners. Students can select the speed they want to work with according to their abilities. Activities: In class, the teacher will review with the students the rules of conjugating regular verbs in Spanish.
Students will be given a list of –ar and –er verbs to practice verb conjugation on a worksheet.
Competition: Teacher will set a timer for 3 or 5 minutes. The pair or individual (or group; the class can also divided into two groups) who creates the greater amount of “burritos” in the time determined by the teacher wins the competition and earns a prize!
Check for Understanding:
Monitor by walking around the classroom.
Explanation/Reflection: By incorporating a computer game students are more likely to remain engaged throughout the lesson especially when it comes to completing a task that is often tedious and repetitive such as conjugating verbs. Conjugating verbs can be frustrating for students. However, if the lesson is presented in a creative way and if the competition component is also incorporated, students will be encouraged to learn the rules and apply them correctly. Contingency Plan: If for some reason students are not able to use the computers, then the competition can be completed with worksheets.
